Ramones Museum

In Berlin-Neukölln the Ramones-Museum Berlin preserves the memory of the American punk band the Ramones and presents their cultural significance for the punk movement.

The institution is currently located at Weserstraße 159 in Neukölln; its history has been shaped by several relocations within Berlin. It first opened on 15 September 2005 in Berlin-Kreuzberg. The initiative came from a private collector who, over the years, assembled hundreds of objects related to the band. Originally the collection was housed in two basement rooms in Kreuzberg. In November 2007 that location closed following a drastic rent increase. In October 2008 the museum reopened in the Mitte district on Krausnickstraße, now with an integrated café and a division between museum and guest areas on the ground floor. In 2017 the institution moved back to Kreuzberg to Oberbaumstraße near the Schlesischen Tor, where it remained until 2021 and was closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since April 2024 the Ramones-Museum Berlin has been back on Weserstraße in Neukölln, this time with an integrated bar.

The exhibition comprises more than 1,000 memorabilia items from 1974–1996 and focuses on original objects and documents related to the band. From its founding the house claimed the status of the world’s first and, to date, only museum devoted exclusively to the Ramones, and it aims to make the group’s musical and cultural impact permanently accessible.
