Description [EN]
The small museum has the advantage that visitors can learn a great deal about life and death in a Roman auxiliary troop fort in a short time. All the exhibits were found in Remagen, so you can get an impression of what remains of the Roman barracks and civilian settlement that survived for three centuries, and how modern archaeology interprets these remains.
Since 2021 the fort has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage "Frontiers of the Roman Empire: Lower German Limes." The ROMAN MUSEUM REMAGEN and the remains of the praetorium in the cellar of the neighboring KULTURWERKSTATT have thus taken on new significance, and their presentation will be updated in the near future to reflect the scientific findings of the past thirty years.
