Description [EN]
Located in the heart of Berlin, the Boros Collection occupies several floors of the former Reichsbahnbunker Friedrichstraße and presents contemporary art there. The private collection is owned by Christian and Karen Boros; the collection is presented to the public in the historic bunker space.
The bunker was acquired in 2003 and converted for museum purposes across five floors. Since 2008, sections of the collection have opened to the public across a total of approximately 3,000 m² in around 80 rooms — the spatial concept follows the original structure of the building.
Groups of works by international artists are shown, with a focus from 1990 to the present. The exhibition presentation is accessible to the public exclusively through guided tours.
The presentation is organized as sequential presentations of works: the first phase (2008–2012) recorded 120,000 visitors in approximately 7,500 tours, the second (2012–2016) about 200,000 visitors in 9,000 tours, the third (2017–2021) around 220,000 visitors in 16,000 tours. Since May 2022 the fourth presentation has been running, in which newly acquired works are shown in combination with works from the early 2000s.
