The Schering Stiftung promotes the life sciences, the contemporary arts, as well as scientific and cultural education. A key focus of the Foundation’s activities is on projects at the interface of science and art. The Schering Stiftung is an operational foundation. It develops its own projects and programs and realizes them alone or in collaboration with partners. Since 2009, the Schering Stiftung has presented exhibitions by international contemporary artists at its Project Space in the heart of Berlin, offering a public platform for the interdisciplinary dialogue between art, science, and society.
The independent, nonprofit foundation was established in 2002 by Schering AG, Berlin, and has an endowment of 35 million euro. Decisions about how to allocate the funds are made twice a year by the Foundation Council which is comprised of high-level personalities from the fields of culture, science, and business.
