Description [EN]
The small yet charming Hauff Museum showcases works by the successful writer Wilhelm Hauff in its exhibition.
Besides his most popular novel "Der Lichtenstein," which served as the inspiration for the well-known Lichtenstein Castle, Hauff became famous primarily as a storyteller of fairy tales. In his short life, he wrote well-known fairy tales such as "Little Longnose," "Caliph Stork," "The Little Muck," and "The Cold Heart." Wilhelm Hauff is still considered one of the great figures in German literature. This small but exquisite museum, with its numerous offerings, is a journey of discovery worth taking for everyone.

A classic German writer, or more of a Swabian storyteller? Wilhelm Hauff may be many things, but he’s worth reading in any case – even now. The Wilhelm Hauff Museum in the Honau neighbourhood of Lichtenstein is devoted to the life and work of the novelist and poet, who died at the age of just 24. Hauff was neither born in Lichtenstein, nor did he ever visit the place. But there is nevertheless a close connection between Honau and the author. For high above the Echaz Valley towers Lichtenstein Castle – built in response to Hauff’s successful novel of the same name. Start audio guide
