As a specialist museum dedicated to airships, the Zeppelin-Museum Zeppelinheim in Neu-Isenburg (Zeppelinheim district) presents the history of the Zeppelin airships at the Frankfurt location across approximately 300 square metres.
The location of the building is historically rooted: Zeppelinheim was laid out in 1935 as a residential and work settlement for crew members and ground personnel of the Zeppelins and was granted the legal status of an independent municipality on 1 January 1938. The museum was established in 1988 as an extension to the community centre; its form is based on a quarter of the cross-section of the Zeppelin LZ 10.
The permanent exhibition uses original exhibits, including an engine and parts of the interior fittings, to vividly convey the technology, comfort and historical significance of the airships. In addition, four different films on the history of the Zeppelins are shown on request.
The museum is run by the city of Neu-Isenburg and the Verein für Zeppelin-Luftschiffahrt e. V. In 2023 the museum recorded 10,534 visitors.
