Mythos Zündapp - Cult on Wheels at the Zündapp Museum in the Marstall Sigmaringen
There are probably few places where nostalgia and technology are as united as at the Zündapp Museum in the historic Marstall Sigmaringen in the Danube Valley. First opened in 2008 in the old production site of the Zoller-Hof brewery, the exhibition has been housed since 2022 in the historic riding hall of the Hohenzollern princely house, in the center of Sigmaringen.
On over 700 square meters of space, you will find probably the largest public exhibition of the Nuremberg cult brand with 142 vehicles and over 250 other exhibits related to the brand itself and contemporary history. Immerse yourself in old German craftsmanship! This globally unique collection showcases the art of motorcycle construction in the finest detail and provides an overview of all the products Zündapp ever produced.
The foundation of the collection was laid by Adolf Mattes, a private collector from the Swabian Königsheim. Other exhibits were purchased by the Zoller-Hof brewery or provided by other lenders. The exhibition features everything that makes the hearts of Zündapp fans beat faster. The first and only Zündapp car ever built in series – the legendary Janus – is of course part of the comprehensive exhibition.
The impressive collection also includes an original Levis machine from England, which served as a prototype for the first Zündapp motorcycle. The rare Z200 from 1929, of which only very few specimens remain, is of exceptional value. The robust KS 600 was used as a Wehrmacht machine, next to it stands the K 800 with four cylinders, the most powerful machine ever built by Zündapp. And of course, in addition to a whole series of the famous Bella scooters, there is also absolutely curious to discover: absolute eye-catchers include a RS 50 scooter converted into a snowmobile, as well as a Bella scooter newly built in 2003 from 1965 with an incredible 33 hp! The unique KS 50 SuperSport, of which only five were produced, and a sidecar for children are also uniquely presented!
The former factory rider, Günter Sengfelder, praised "the unique collection, which in its diversity cannot even be marveled at in Zündapp´s main factories in Nuremberg and Munich," during the museum´s opening!
