Description [EN]

We welcome our virtual museum visitors and would first like to give them a brief note about the building itself. The house was established in 1870 as a school and teacher's residence. After the number of pupils grew, the building that is now the heritage house was used for other purposes. Later a kindergarten was set up and parts of the building were used for fire brigade purposes.

From 1974 most of the rooms were needed for the establishment of the local history museum; a small part of the building is available as a branch office of the city administration for the residents of Lette. In surprising variety, the local history museum houses large and small treasures. Valuable single items of significant worth and lovingly assembled everyday objects are presented in six sections. The museum is just the right place for grandparents to introduce their grandchildren to bygone times.

Since its founding it has been a primary task of the Heimatverein Lette to collect and document local cultural heritage for posterity. Traditional crafts are presented in a very vivid way. Among other things, a hairdresser's salon, a shoemaker's workshop, and a bakehouse with their tools are on display. Weddings are also conducted on request in the hearth room of the heritage house. There is ample parking available in front of the museum.
